I was reading online for the very first time that Nollywood Actress Funmi Awelewa a.k.a Morili is actually from IWO town just like Late Sisi Quadri.
I’m surprised, I used to think she’s Ibadan. She actually grew up in Ayeye area of Ibadan but hails from Iwo town according to what I read.
Now, I see why she and Sisi Quadri are so close in their banters and in acting. It’s like Brother and sister, from same town with same goal.
I would have said Morili helped Sisi Quadri career to blow up but I also think Sisi Quadri is one of the old cats, that trained from some of the best, so Morili must have learnt acting a bit from him through their collaborations and features.
I had been seeing Sisi Quadri on TV for more than 20yrs, not even in Ajileye movies but all these weekly TV movies (Ere ọlọsọsẹ on OSBC back then), he was called Ayelaagbe in the movie, the production was packaged by Osogbo actors then – this was aside Seranko Seniyan debut.
The acting of these two is something that changes the dynamics of comic relief of Yoruwood somehow and they made us see that yabbing can be fun and funny, a major niche they both carved uniquely. Just like Baba Suwe and Moladun.
I feel for Morili really. She’s probably the closest to him in the industry aside the likes of No Network, that man called Agba Yahoo, New Cat Apankukor, and few others that usually have common roles in movies. Life!
The Sharp mouth Guy is gone. Probably there is no one like him presently.
